Controversial American artist, Andres Serrano, opened his China series titled "An American Perspective" at the Red Brick Art Museum, Beijing. The exhibition, the artist's first in the country, is curated by Yan Shijie, with assistance from Sun Wenjie. Serrano' most recent series, "Made in China" as well as some other key works from the past, are presented in the exhibition in an American Perspective. Serrano is known for his calm perspective in representing reality, and his critical and controversial works that confront social taboos and norms. The exhibition will showcase 53 works of photography and video from 16 of his major series, including "Piss Christ (1987)," Serrano’s most famous and controversial work, which depicts a crucifix submerged body fluids.
