Hedda Hammer Morrison (1908-1991, born in Stuttgart, Germany) was part of the ‘family’ of photographers and travellers who were drawn there to picture China for western audiences. During her thirteen years in China (from 1933 to 1946), Hedda first managed a German owned commercial photographic studio. Later, she continued to work as a freelance photographer taking thousands of shots that now afford a fascinating record of pre-revolutionary lifestyles, streetscapes, craftspeople at work, street vendors, religious and folk customs, or architectural structures that in many cases have changed or have been destroyed.



Hedda Hammer Morrison (1908-1991, né à Stuttgart, Allemagne) appartient à cette "famille" de photographes ou voyageurs partis en Chine afin d’en dresser le portrait pour la rendre plus familière aux yeux des occidentaux. Durant son séjour de treize années (de 1933 à 1946) elle géra tout d’abord un studio de photographie allemand. Par la suite, elle poursuivit sa carrière en tant que freelance et pris quelques milliers de fascinants et rares clichés documentant les modes de vies de l’époque prérévolutionnaire, à travers ses rues et ses vendeurs, ses artisans, ses religions, ses croyances, et ses architectures pour la plupart altérées voire détruites.


赫达•莫里逊 (1908-1991, 出生于德国)跟不少西方摄影师一样去过中国，第一个原因是让西方大众对中国有相当的了解。从1933年到1946年她在中国度过，拍摄了大量高质量照片。她在中国大陆13年间拍摄的一万多张底片和六千幅照片。我们可以看出来她的作品主题很多， 比如说她拍摄了当时的生活方式, 城市风光, 工人，街上的小店，传统习惯，传统建筑，等人文的主题。
