This series named "Me and Me" is a project about knowing oneself in the relationship via shooting each other and self-portrait. Meeting each other from 2007 in university, Chen Wenjun 陈文俊 and Jiang Yanmei 江演媚 began to shoot each other by camera and mobile phone unconsciously. Yanmei lived in Guangzhou when she was a teenager, and they usually dated each other here on the roof. They tried to shoot a self-portrait together to express a feeling they didn't exactly know what it was at that time.
They usually hang out with each other in university and treated the other one as a model in a photo shooting. Being graduated, then living together, and later getting married, their life has undergone a series of changes. They still felt like they were in a maze, and they were still searching for themselves. In 2014, Yanmei started shooting self-portrait to try to face and explore herself in their home in Guangzhou. Sometimes Yanmei would shoot photos for Wenjun. Wenjun was curious and moved by Yanmei’s courage and determination, he decided to get into the frame, and they decided to shoot self-portrait together to try to face and explore themselves in the relationship. They quit their jobs at the end of 2014 and looked forward to a new life. They had a three-months trip in the United States, they kept shooting self-portrait in a country where they felt more free. After a period of shooting self-portraits, their thoughts became clearer, they decided to keep exploring the identities and roles in the relationship.
