-- Artist statement
My series TA(Her): Meaning “her” in Chinese is a collaborative photographic project with Chinese female artists who are currently living in the west but originally born and raised from China - a similar to the artist's which ignited this project. “TA” aims to share Chinese modern femininity and our individuality to say, we are here and we are not alone.
My artistic approach for this project has been very therapeutic for me as it is my personal work thus I collaborate with people that I find intriguing and interesting. I photograph them use my medium format film camera and discuss location that they feel more intimate to prior to actual photoshoot. Most of them are in fact fashion designers - in this case, I would often ask them to wear their own design to feel more senses of self.
