As the violence events led by Uyghur’s separatism force often happen in China since 2009, the Chinese central government is providing Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region which is 1/6 size of Chinese territory several aid projects, including investments, constructions, labor exports, etc,. This personal project aims to explore how policies impact a region on ancient Silk Road and its local residents and, and discuss if it's possible to solve a tense social problem with an economical way.
Liu Yuyang 刘禹扬, a freelance photographer for Getty Images, The New York Times etc,. Born in Sichuan, the southwest China in 1991, he self studied photography at 16. He holds a B.A. in History from East China Normal University. bases in Shanghai and Chengdu currently. His work has been published on TIME, The New York Times, NPR, BBC, The Guardian, ChinaFile, Science, Lancet, South China Morning Post, etc., he also collaborates with NGOs such as UNICEF, Greenpeace and Save the Children. His commercial clients includes Apple, Airbnb, Xiaomi and JD, etc.
