At first graduated from Donghua University with a bachelor degree in Management, Tang Ting 汤庭 (born in 1982 in Shanghai) is a self-taught photographer who started his activity in 2009. He has created several series since then, focusing notably on portraits and independent music band concert for he is fairly involved in Shanghai’s nightlife. These series demonstrate a great attention to the people, their dynamism, their excitement. "Slow Dreams" appears to be the exact contrary. Here the slowness and the quasi-absence of human figure prevail over. Through this title, Tang Ting makes a reference to one song of a Beijing-based rock band called Guaili, with whom he has already collaborated. He likes to compare this collection with a sort of "drawer" in which he randomly and occasionally put pictures that share similarities. In that sense, "Slow Dreams" is not the result of a thoughtful intention; instead this series remains in constant evolution for once a photograph has been added into the "drawer", it changes the overall concept.
