Although the urbanization remains his main topic, Weng Fen 翁奋 (born in 1961 in Hainan, known as Weng Peijun) also explores natural landscapes. His photographs somehow recall the Wanderer above the Sea of Fog created by Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) since Weng’s young girls similarly turn their backs to us while being sat on a obstructing wall, which faces distant skyscrapers. A poetic invitation to take the time to look at the immensity of today’s landscapes and cityscapes in order to acknowledge their fragility and their transformations.
