“Temporary Performers” is the series photographs I shot in 2007-2010, I pay more attention to their features when I choose the actors. To highlight the magic effect of reality, I have changed their faces through a computer, which could create a scene of performance. The thing that has impressed me most is the unique feature–small components in the sluggish look before my camera. The inner world changefulness of different ID represents the evolution process of mankind in the materialized age. Perhaps in the real world changing in a high speed, everyone can be turned into the temporary actor for their indefinite status.
“Fairy Tale” is children part from “Temporary Performers” series. Before shooting, I discard the innocence of children, try to look for the passing time based on my memories of childhood in the view of an adult who has come from that age, and express the contradictory theme about love and injury with these photographs. At the moment of shooting, the tragedy mood intensified by the confused, sad and unknown expression, the body, the skin color, the red-scarf and the ambiguous pink color of the background. Maybe “Temporary Performers--Fairy Tales” is a story which is manufactured by me on purpose, but who knows it is not a fable to the reality.
