The Global SinoPhoto Awards 2023 are now open to invite all professional and amateur photographers of any background, location and nationality to tell their Chinese story, and imagine, interpret and inspire connections between Chinese culture and values with the rest of the world.
In their third year, the Awards will encompass four categories including Portraiture, Food, Environment and Series. Photographers are invited to submit their images that express, interpret and share an element which represents their view of Chinese culture. For the first time, the Series category will enable photographers to tell their Chinese story through a body of images that coalesce thematically, conceptually or aesthetically.
This wholly independent international photography contest aims to present Chinese culture through remarkable imagery which reflects the skills, creativity and imagination of the photographer, and provides a creative hub to inspire and connect photographers internationally.
Yintong Betser, co-founder of the Global SinoPhoto Awards, explains, “Last year, the Awards attracted considerable attention from photography communities and societies and we are aiming to grow them even further internationally by communicating how this independent contest is available to all photographers, whether professional or amateur. Each of the categories is open to the entrant’s own interpretation of the Chinese theme and we are looking forward to another year of remarkable entries.”
The awards are officially open on 10 September to coincide with the Chinese Moon Festival, the second most important festival in China after Chinese New Year, when families reunite and celebrate by gathering for dinners, sharing mooncakes with friends and family, and lighting paper lanterns. The deadline for entries is 20 November 2022 and the winners will be announced on 17 January 2023 at a London Awards Ceremony jointly held with the British Library to coincide with its forthcoming British and Chinese exhibition, opening in November 2022.
The winning images will be exhibited in central London at the FUJIFILM House of Photography from 17 January to 19 February 2023.
The Global SinoPhoto Awards 2023 are also supported by Molton Brown, Blick Rothenberg, Digitalab and The Societies of Photographers. The Global SinoPhoto Awards 2023 support the charity Mothers’ Bridge of Love.
