DESCRIPTION
Well known for his portraits of coal-mining communities, Song Chao presents a recent project entitled "Images in the Post-Truth Era" 后真相之“相" (2022). This series questions our understanding of visual and textual truth. Song Chao 宋朝 was born in October 1979 in Shandong Province, China. Between 1990 and 2004, he lived and worked in the coal-mine of Shandong as a miner. He began photographing in 2001 and created the series of coal mine-themed works such as "Miners", "The Residents of Mining Areas", "The Sinking Mining Areas", etc. Between 2004-2009, he studied photography and art at Beijing Film Academy. From 2020, he started his new project "Images in the Post-truth Era". He currently works and lives between New Jersey (USA) and Beijing (China).
