Every summer since 1970, over the course of more than forty exhibitions at various of the city's exceptional heritage sites, the Rencontres d'Arles has been a major influence in disseminating the best of world photography and playing the role of a springboard for photographic and contemporary creative talents.
Following the cancellation of the 51st Rencontres d'Arles, their partners, in solidarity with the artists and the festival, have stepped up so that certain projects as well as the 2020 awards can go on as scheduled.
This year, Photography of China has collaborated with Chinese visual artist Zhen Shi to create an exclusive video of JT’s works entitled "Wild Grass: Phantoms of the Republic". Since 2014, JT has been documenting non-official orphanages and the living conditions of abandoned children in China as an independent investigator.
